Welcome

Slovenia is a mountainous country, crisscrossed by hundreds of waymarked walking trails. There are some attractive mountain areas you can only explore on foot. There are also many climbing spots for those with that interest.

Hiking in Slovenia is nowadays widespread and organised mountaineering has a long tradition. If you are so inclined, you can become a member of our big mountaineering family.

Mountaineering and climbing club Ljubljana-Matica (in Slovene language: Planinsko društvo Ljubljana-Matica) offers you these opportunities:

  • taking part in mountaineering and climbing activities,
  • meeting and socialising with others with similar interests,
  • taking part in the maintenance of mountain trails.

The club organizes hikes and other events, promotes the protection of nature, mountain education and safety.

The club is affiliated with the Alpine Association of Slovenia - Planinska zveza Slovenije (PZS). This means that members are covered by personal insurance.

Feel free to contact us or to become our member!
